privileging the “parts of generation”

About 230 years ago, a melancholy Englishman wrote to Tissot that he would rather die than suffer the weaknesses he was experiencing in the “parts of Generation.”

Carolyn Herbst Lewis, the author of a blog post on “Penises and Privilege,” (part of the Nursing Clio blog), explains the relationship between erections, heteronormativity, privilege and citizenship in mid-twentieth-century USA. She also offers some provocative comments on how all of this might link to the very current war being waged against women and their rights to their bodies.
